Hi Families,
Kind of had a crazy week last week, missing those two days set us behind in what we were going to get done in class, but we push on! Some kids brought home the gift that they made for you and others will be bringing them home Monday and Tuesday. We will have our candy house events on Monday and Tuesday for all classes. If you signed up to send in something for that, we will need it at the beginning of class on those days.
Here is the run down for the make-up winter concert. Tuesday and Wednesday morning we will have regular drop-off time and then invite you and your family back at 10:45 for the concert upstairs in Jason Lee hall. It will be followed by some cookies and then class is over. The Afternoon class will have their concert on Wednesday. Drop-off is regular time, then families are invited upstairs to Jason Lee hall @ 12:45. After the concert, the kids will come back to class where we will join the Dragonfly class for a Holiday movie and popcorn. Pick up is at regular time. I understand this is inconvenient for some, but it would be great to have someone coming to watch, even if it cant be you. Grandparents, babysitter, aunt, uncle or friend are invited to come in your place and be sure and bring the video recorder or camera. Let me know if you have more questions.
On Thursday and Friday we have a fun field trip planned as we join the other classrooms here at LAPS and go bowling @ Crosely lanes. The morning classes will go from 9:30-11:30 on Thursday and Friday. The afternoon class goes on Thursday from 12:30-2:30. Plan on paying with cash for each bowler, $2 per game. As with all field trips, parents are responsible for transportation and supervision during the field trip. We hope you will join us as we wrap up our time together before the holidays.
Each year our school goes to see a play at Northwest Children’s Theater. This year we will be seeing “Goodnight Moon” on February 12th. The cost is $5 per person. As always,Parents are responsible for transportation and supervision during field trips. Watch for a sign up sheet so we can get an accurate count of who is coming along. We will collect money in January.
Thank you so much for all of the food donations. I know the church is able to provide food boxes for many families this holiday season because of your generosity. We are very proud of our families here at LAPS!
I feel very lucky to be a part of your Busy Bee’s learning here at LAPS and want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. Enjoy your family times, road trips, quiet moments with your kids, make some memories cause they grow up fast. We’ll see you in the New Year!

Hi Families,
Things around the Busy Bee Class are getting busy for sure! This week we are talking about Family traditions for the holidays. We will be doing some activities around some of the usual traditions of the season,Santa, christmas trees and reindeer. If your child has a family tradition they would like to share with our class , we would love to hear about it. We are also going to be working on some “Special” gifts for our families in class this week.
This week on Wednesday,December 11th at 6:00 pm we present our winter concert to families. The Busy Bee Class will be joining with the Dragonfly and Sunshine classes on this night. We’ll be singing winter/holiday songs for your enjoyment and then afterward the scholastic book fair will be open for book buying. This is a fun night so be sure and plan to come. Bring your Busy Bee downstairs to the classroom at 5:45, having them dress up in some fun holiday clothes would be perfect for this night.
The Busy Bee class will celebrate the holiday by making Candy houses and having a book exchange next week. There will be a sign up sheet for sending in some supplies for our candy house event. The kids need to bring in a new $5 book, wrapped with their name on the “From”. The Book fair is a great place to pick one up. It will be open during school hours in the Hidden chapel upstairs past the pre-school office. When you purchase books at the bookfair, we earn free books for our classroom. Thanks in advance for your support of literacy at our school.
We also have a fun field trip planned as we join the other classrooms here at LAPS and go bowling on Dec. 19/20 to finish out our last days before the winter break.
We are in the winter weather mode and need to be aware of school closures. If the weather is looking questionable you can check the website or sign up for the remind 101 from LAPS that will send you a text regarding closures. I will also try to give some notice if I know school will be closed through email and texts.
We will continue our canned food drive through December to fill food boxes for those in need during the Christmas holiday. We have talked about it in class and encourage you to help your child remember to bring in a canned food donation.

Hi Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break and time spent with family and friends. For my family, we spent lots of relaxing time and hanging out together.
In Class this week we will be learning about “our 5 senses” We will be doing lots of activities using our eyes, ears, nose, mouth and hands. We’ll be painting with peppermint paint, creating sparkling art with glitter, making our own “Feeling page” and writing some journal pages about things we can hear and smell. At the end of the week Teacher Caroline will be sharing something yummy as we do a tasting activity. Also this week we will be doing lots of practicing for our winter program coming up next week.
The next three weeks in December are filled with holiday activities and fun you and your Busy Bee won’t want to miss. First up  is our “Santa Breakfast” which will be on this coming Saturday the 7th. from 8:00-10:00 am.  We have had low ticket sales and are considering canceling the breakfast if we cant get some more interest. Tickets are $5 for a visit with Santa and a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, eggs and fruit. Everyone is invited, so tell friends and family. There will be no ticket sales at the door, so your going to have to plan ahead. We are in need of some Parent volunteers for this event, this is a great time to get some hours in. Check out the sign up sheet on the preschool office door.
Then on December 11th at 6:00 pm we present our winter concert to families. The Busy Bee Class will be joining with the Dragonfly and Sunshine classes on this night. We’ll be singing winter/holiday songs for your enjoyment and then afterward the scholastic book fair will be open for book buying. This is a fun night so be sure and plan to come.
The Busy Bee class will celebrate the holiday by making Candy houses and having a book exchange later on this month. We also have a fun field trip planned as we join the other classrooms here at LAPS and go bowling on Dec. 19/20.

Hi Families,
The house building last week was a favorite for everyone. The kids wrote some stories about their houses after painting them. They are excited to share them and take them home this week. Also a fun activity that we did last week was “Going on a bear hunt”, it’s a chant that takes us on an imaginary trip to find a bear. We also did an art project that went along with the chant. This week we are going to talk about the idea of “being Thankful” what it means, what kinds of things we have that we love or are important to us. Our school does a food drive each year before the holidays and we will be talking about this in the Busy Bee class and kids can bring donations and put them in the box in our classroom. We have some fun turkey themed art to do this week as well.
The November Family fun night is this week on Friday from 5:30-7:00. We will be hosting a “Make and take” craft night. With help from parents, kids will be able to do several holiday crafts, decorate a cookie and take a break with some holiday books. This is a time to be together and get a jump start on the holidays with some quality family time. Hope to see everyone there!
The Bake sale will be next week on Mon/Tues during school hours. We will be taking donations of baked goods both days. If you are more of a buyer of baked goods please come by and pick up some yummy treats for your family’s Thanksgiving celebration. Thanks for your support.

Hi Families,
Thank you so much for taking the time to come in for conferences last week. I  get to know your family better after this chance to talk about your Busy Bee. I feel like we have a super supportive group of families and am honored to be part of your kids learning. watch for a copy of the report card in cubbies this week. Remember there is no class Monday Nov.11th in honor of Veterans day.
We are going to be talking about houses and homes this week. We’ll be building our own houses with wood scraps and glue, then later in the week we will write some stories about our houses and paint them. This is a favorite project of mine, the kids love using “lots” of glue and getting to create some 3-D artwork. We will be looking for everyone to bring their “My family” paper back to school. The kids can either draw a picture of their family or print one out. Let me know if you have misplaced it need a new page.
November has some fun events coming up. Our Family Fun night this month will be a holiday “make and take” craft night. It will be on Friday, November 22nd from 5:30-7:00. This free event will include ornament making, reindeer food, cookie decorating and photo booth. The whole family is welcome to come get a jump on the holidays and spend some quality time together creating crafts. Also this month is the “Bake sale” on Mon/Tues Nov.25 & 26 during school hours. We will be taking baked donations to sell both days. If you aren’t a baker, then you can come and buy some goodies for your family Thanksgiving celebration! Either way, Thanks in advance for supporting our school.

Hi Families,
We had a fun party day last week ,wearing costumes and having yummy snacks. Now we are in November and have lots to talk about this month. We will start this week with our unit about “Families”. Everyone will be bringing home a “My Family” page to do at home. When it has been completed, send it back to school and your Busy Bee will tell the class about their family. The page will go in a class book about families and then in their portfolio at the end of the school year. Our focus about families will be that families look different , but all have people in them who love and care for each other. We will be adding to our family learning next week as we talk about homes.
This week is a short week due to Parent/Teacher conferences all day Thursday and no class on Friday. If you have still not returned the questionnaire page, please get that in Mon/Tues this week. If you are unable to keep your scheduled conference time, please text me or call the preschool office and leave a message. I will try my best to keep on time so you dont have to wait, so please be on time also. Kids can come along, I will leave that choice up to you.Sometimes it is more efficient to have our conversation without interruptions. I look forward to having some time to talk about the school year ahead and hearing about your Busy Bee.

Hi Families,
Last week was lots of fun as we talked about real and pretend. The kids really loved the bats and monsters we worked on. Now here we are in the last week of October(that was a fast month) and have lots of fun things happening. We are going to squeeze in some learning this week as we stick with the pumpkin/Fall/Halloween theme. We’ll have a quick cooking project Mon/Tues when we make “Apple bites” and work on a counting halloween book and a patterning activity.
The Busy Bee class will celebrate Halloween on Thursday Oct 31st. The kids can wear their non-scary costume to school(no weapons please). We will parade around our school and across the street to show off to the Grandmas and Grandpas, maybe get a few “treats” from them. Then we will play some games and have our party snacks. The Morning class will start our party around 10:45. The afternoon class will be enjoying our party time with the dragonfly class and will start around 2:00. Please remember to send the food item you signed up for. Parents are not required to join us, but always welcome to.
There is a Family fun night this week on Tuesday night from 5:30 to 7:00.In an effort to encourage early literacy, we are having a “Read-in” and costume contest. The whole family is invited to come and hear some great books read by our own LAPS teachers and staff. There will be some popcorn for a snack and a costume contest. It is another way to get some wear out of that halloween costume and it is a lot of fun to see everyone dressed up. We hope to see everyone there!
I forgot to mention the Scentsy fundraiser last week. The packets for this are in the hallway and are due back on October 31st.
I am so excited for Parent /Teacher conferences ! Every one of the Busy Bee families have signed up for a time to talk about their Busy Bee and the school year ahead. Please try and get the questionnaire sheet sent back too school. These are helpful to me so I can make sure that our time together is productive and addresses your questions and concerns. I leave wether or not to bring your kids to our conference up to you. I understand many have to bring them along, but it is nice to have conversation with grown-ups uninterrupted . We will discuss report cards and things to work on at home as well as your questions. Thank you for taking time out of the busy day to meet.
The kids are excited, the week is full of fun and it’s a great day to be a Busy Bee!

Hi Families,
What a great time everyone had at the pumpkin patch! The weather was just right and the pumpkins a plenty. Thank you for taking time to join us and spend time with your kids. This week along with some journaling about our field trip, we will be talking about “real and pretend” .We’ll explore some favorite make believe things, monsters and ghosts. then talk about real things that may be scary, like spiders and bats. Developmentally, kids at this age should be grasping understanding of this concept. The Halloween season is a good time to talk about fears of scary things. Having some talks at home about real and pretend and fears would be a great bridge to what we’ll be discussing in class.
This week is our visit across the street to sing to the Grandmas and Grandpas. The morning class will go Wednesday @ 10:15. The afternoon class going over on Thursday @ 2:00. We should all wear our green tie dyed shirts on that day.
I am re-posting the next few items of interest. I just want to keep everyone remembering what’s coming up and letting you know what we need for our classroom. Take a minute to re-read the next few paragraphs that were in last weeks newsletter to be sure you are in the “know”.Thank you so much for supporting the Busy Bee class and our school.
The Family fun night this month will be a Halloween read-in and costume contest and will be on Tuesday ,Oct 29th from 5:30-7:00. The whole family is invited to come in costume and enjoy some great books read by the teachers.
The Busy Bee class goes outside every day unless it is raining. We also have the early playtime , so it can still be chilly in the AM when we go out. Please consider this when dressing kids and sending them in appropriate shoes/coats. We want everyone to be comfortable outside so they can make good use of the time to burn off energy and get some exercise.
Our sweet little Lulu could use some parsley and a few fruits or veggies. Also she needs a new bag of bedding. The bedding can be purchased from a feed/farm store and comes in a large bag for around $6. Let me know if either of these things would be something you would like to donate to our classroom.
We are planning our Halloween party for Thursday the 31st of October for the morning class and the afternoon class. There is a sign up sheet out to send a goodie for our party. The kids can come to school dressed in costume on this day. Please keep in mind we would like non-scary costumes and no weapons at school.
Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up next month on November 7th. A sign up sheet is out to get a time that works for your schedule. There will be no class on this day. Also ,I will be sending home a conference questions sheet for you to jot down concerns or questions about your child we can discuss during our conference time that you send back to school before hand.
The preschool office door has a bunch of sign-up sheets for various volunteer opportunities in the next few months. Helping out with the bake sale, Santa breakfast or the book fair are a few to consider. We so much appreciate your help with these events, we couldn't do it with out our great supportive families.
