Hi Families,
Last week was lots of fun as we talked about real and pretend. The kids really loved the bats and monsters we worked on. Now here we are in the last week of October(that was a fast month) and have lots of fun things happening. We are going to squeeze in some learning this week as we stick with the pumpkin/Fall/Halloween theme. We’ll have a quick cooking project Mon/Tues when we make “Apple bites” and work on a counting halloween book and a patterning activity.
The Busy Bee class will celebrate Halloween on Thursday Oct 31st. The kids can wear their non-scary costume to school(no weapons please). We will parade around our school and across the street to show off to the Grandmas and Grandpas, maybe get a few “treats” from them. Then we will play some games and have our party snacks. The Morning class will start our party around 10:45. The afternoon class will be enjoying our party time with the dragonfly class and will start around 2:00. Please remember to send the food item you signed up for. Parents are not required to join us, but always welcome to.
There is a Family fun night this week on Tuesday night from 5:30 to 7:00.In an effort to encourage early literacy, we are having a “Read-in” and costume contest. The whole family is invited to come and hear some great books read by our own LAPS teachers and staff. There will be some popcorn for a snack and a costume contest. It is another way to get some wear out of that halloween costume and it is a lot of fun to see everyone dressed up. We hope to see everyone there!
I forgot to mention the Scentsy fundraiser last week. The packets for this are in the hallway and are due back on October 31st.
I am so excited for Parent /Teacher conferences ! Every one of the Busy Bee families have signed up for a time to talk about their Busy Bee and the school year ahead. Please try and get the questionnaire sheet sent back too school. These are helpful to me so I can make sure that our time together is productive and addresses your questions and concerns. I leave wether or not to bring your kids to our conference up to you. I understand many have to bring them along, but it is nice to have conversation with grown-ups uninterrupted . We will discuss report cards and things to work on at home as well as your questions. Thank you for taking time out of the busy day to meet.
The kids are excited, the week is full of fun and it’s a great day to be a Busy Bee!

Hi Families,
What a great time everyone had at the pumpkin patch! The weather was just right and the pumpkins a plenty. Thank you for taking time to join us and spend time with your kids. This week along with some journaling about our field trip, we will be talking about “real and pretend” .We’ll explore some favorite make believe things, monsters and ghosts. then talk about real things that may be scary, like spiders and bats. Developmentally, kids at this age should be grasping understanding of this concept. The Halloween season is a good time to talk about fears of scary things. Having some talks at home about real and pretend and fears would be a great bridge to what we’ll be discussing in class.
This week is our visit across the street to sing to the Grandmas and Grandpas. The morning class will go Wednesday @ 10:15. The afternoon class going over on Thursday @ 2:00. We should all wear our green tie dyed shirts on that day.
I am re-posting the next few items of interest. I just want to keep everyone remembering what’s coming up and letting you know what we need for our classroom. Take a minute to re-read the next few paragraphs that were in last weeks newsletter to be sure you are in the “know”.Thank you so much for supporting the Busy Bee class and our school.
The Family fun night this month will be a Halloween read-in and costume contest and will be on Tuesday ,Oct 29th from 5:30-7:00. The whole family is invited to come in costume and enjoy some great books read by the teachers.
The Busy Bee class goes outside every day unless it is raining. We also have the early playtime , so it can still be chilly in the AM when we go out. Please consider this when dressing kids and sending them in appropriate shoes/coats. We want everyone to be comfortable outside so they can make good use of the time to burn off energy and get some exercise.
Our sweet little Lulu could use some parsley and a few fruits or veggies. Also she needs a new bag of bedding. The bedding can be purchased from a feed/farm store and comes in a large bag for around $6. Let me know if either of these things would be something you would like to donate to our classroom.
We are planning our Halloween party for Thursday the 31st of October for the morning class and the afternoon class. There is a sign up sheet out to send a goodie for our party. The kids can come to school dressed in costume on this day. Please keep in mind we would like non-scary costumes and no weapons at school.
Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up next month on November 7th. A sign up sheet is out to get a time that works for your schedule. There will be no class on this day. Also ,I will be sending home a conference questions sheet for you to jot down concerns or questions about your child we can discuss during our conference time that you send back to school before hand.
The preschool office door has a bunch of sign-up sheets for various volunteer opportunities in the next few months. Helping out with the bake sale, Santa breakfast or the book fair are a few to consider. We so much appreciate your help with these events, we couldn't do it with out our great supportive families.

Hi Families,
This week will be a short week in class, we are going to be busy talking about pumpkins, how the grow and what their life cycle is like. Then on Thursday and Friday we will go to Bizi Farms to pick a pumpkin. Directions to the Bizi Farms field trip are out by the sign in sheet as well as a sign up sheet to help us know who is going on which day, if you are a morning class busy bee. The Morning classes will go at 10:30 am on Thurs and Friday Oct 17/18. The Afternoon class will go on Thursday Oct 17 at 1:30. Please plan on meeting 10-15 mins before our time so we can all go in together. The school pays for your child’s field trip for one day. We are asking that each Laps student have only one adult joining them. If an extra adult is coming it will be $8. If any siblings over 1 year old or are coming, they pay $5 for the field trip at the farm on the day of the trip. The kids will get to pick a pumpkin, but it must be one they can carry. If you would like additional pumpkins, you may purchase them at the rate per pound at the farm. We go rain or shine so plan on boots, raincoats if it’s rainy and layers if its cold. Let me know if you have questions about this event.
The T-shirts are done and will be handed out this week. You will want to wash them by themselves for a few washes, just to be sure they don’t get dye on any other laundry. The Bizi Farms fieldtrip would be a great place to wear these shirts, so we can pick out the Busy Bees in the group and hopfully help you keep track of your Busy Bee.
The Family fun night this month will be a Halloween read-in and costume contest and will be on Tuesday ,Oct 29th from 5:30-7:00. The whole family is invited to come in costume and enjoy some great books read by the teachers.

Hi Families,
Thank you to all who were able to come out to the Carnival on Friday evening. The weather was perfect and the kids had a great time. We couldn’t have done it without those parents who volunteered their time to set up,run games and help with clean-up.If you helped,be sure and keep track of the time you volunteered.  We would love to hear your feedback on the carnival and any ideas you may have for next year.
This week we are continuing our Fall learning and will be doing some activities with pumpkins as we get ready for the trip to BiZi farms next week. The Letter sharing sacks were a big hit last week so we will be doing them again this week. Remember to help your Busy Bee pick out something that will fit in the bag that starts with the letter on it. They will tell about it at circle time and we will add the word to the wordwall.
Directions to the Bizi Farms fieldtrip are out by the sign in sheet. The Morning classes will go at 10:30 am on Thurs and Friday Oct 17/18. The Afternoon class will go on Thursday Oct 17 at 1:30. The T-shirts are purchased and ready for tying and dying. If this is something that you have done before or would like to help out with , let me know. This would count towards your volunteer hours and would need to get done this week.
We have had several Busy Bees out with colds and a fever in the last few weeks. Please keep your child at home if they are not feeling up to joining in the classroom activities, have a fever, runny nose that is yucky looking or a cough that is constant. We really want to keep everyone healthy and need your help to make that happen. I know that know one wants to miss out on a school day, but school is hard when you aren’t feeling well. Please send me a quick email or text if your child will be out for the day. Also, we would love some volunteers to clean/disinfect some toys each week. Even just a half an hour would get some cleaning done and count towards your hours.

There’s lots to take in this week, so be sure and let me know if you have any questions, concerns or comments. Please always know that I want to hear from you about your child, we are so thankful for the great families here at our school.
