Hi Families,
Last week we wrapped up our planting and growing unit by eating some yummy cups of dirt! Ask your Busy Bee if they liked it. We are still watching our seeds that we are growing and will send them home when we have had a chance to watch their progress and when they are ready to be planted in the ground.
This week we start a fun learning unit all about Dinosaurs. We will be talking about the different dinosaurs, what they ate, what their habitat was like and what they looked like. Everyone will be choosing a dinosaur to do a “report” on. Watch for the paper to come home this week. This is a take home project and will need your support. The kids will need to find a picture of their dinosaur and find 2 or 3 facts about it(what they ate,how big) that they can tell the class during circle time. Let me know if you have any questions about this project when it is sent home.
Reading groups will be on Monday/Tuesday so be sure your Busy Bee has their folder back at school, so they can take home new materials each week. We will continue with Reading groups through the month of May.
Graduation will be one day only, Tuesday June 17th. The morning class will be at 10:30 AM . If this is not your child’s regular day please plan on them coming to school this day. The Afternoon class will have Graduation at 1:30. Look for the sign up sheet in the hall to let me know how many will be attending our Graduation, so we can plan for food, punch and seating.
We will need some help with set up/clean up if you still need volunteer hours this would be a great time to complete them.
The weather looks good this week, so plan on the bikes being out and sending your child’s helmet to school if they want to ride. Also, sending kids in sweaters or sweatshirts and shoes that are easy to run and play in, can make outside time much more enjoyable.

Hi Families,
Last week was full of fun. We had visitors, special snacks and some crazy hair! The Busy Bee class did a great job showing their spirit on spirit days. Thanks to everyone that helped make our silent auction successful. The Family breakfast was enjoyed by many and the kids art work was super. If you and your family were able to join us for that, we would love your feedback on the event as we plan for next year.
This week we continue with our learning about planting and growing. We are going to be planting more seeds, doing a science experiment with water color and celery and if the weather is dry we are going to go on a nature walk around our school. On Thursday and Friday we will be doing a cooking project when we make  “Dirt cups” . We would love some cut flowers to have in our classroom if anybody has an abundance of them in their yard. Reading groups on Monday and Tuesday so be sure the reading group folders are back at school.
Thanks for all of the encouraging words for our school and Busy Bee class as we welcome Teacher Amber to help finish out our year. Please feel free to introduce yourselves to her as she gets to know kids and families.
Our classroom pets seem to be getting used to the noise and bustle of our class. If your family would like to take them home for a weekend, let me know. They are a bit less of a commitment than Lulu was, smaller cage and really no handling.
I will be doing some assessing in the next few weeks as I prepare the spring progress reports that will be sent home the middle of May. If you would like to help out in class so I can do some one on one assessing, that would be great. Just let me know when a good time/day would be for you.
If you know any families interested in our school, please have them call and set up a tour. We still have openings for all classes for the next school year in the Fall. Our best way to fill our classrooms is by your satisfaction in our program and by you letting other families know. We have a great school here and want to be sure we are helping families get good quality early education for their kids. Thanks for being great, supportive parents of our school!

Important news - Attention AM class Families

I wanted to get everyone updated on a change in our morning class Teachers. Now that all have heard the news of the resignation of Maria as director, I wanted to address the change in our classroom. Caroline will be filling in managing the pre-school office and sadly will not be able to continue teaching on a daily basis in the Busy Bee Class for the last 10 weeks of school. We are hoping that she can get into the classroom a few times a week and do some spanish lessons and circle time. If you see her, please encourge her and support the difficult task of taking over the office duties and having to leave the kids in the Busy Bee class.

So, helping me out for the rest of the school year will be Teacher Amber. She has subbed in our class on many occasions and is excited to help me finish out the year. She will be in class on Mon/Tues and Thurs/Fri. Wednesdays, it will be Sabrina(Teacher Carolines daughter).
I will be talking to the kids about the change and assuring them that I will be there each day and things will continue on as normal in our classroom routines and schedule.
Thank you so much for your support of our class and the school and for your understanding during this transition. I am open to and welcome any questions or concerns in regards to the changes.

Hi Families,
Hope everyone enjoyed some sunny weather and time doing something fun with your family last week. Once we get past Spring break , we actually only have 10 weeks  of our school year left and we have lots to get done!
This week is a fun one. Each year when we come back from spring break , we celebrate children with our Week of the young child. We will be having fun snacks, spirit day themes and some visits from a few special guests from our community. Here is the line up for our spirit days. Monday is “Super hero Day”-your child may dress up and wear their favorite super hero
Tuesday is “Silly sock day” - pick out the silliest pair of socks to wear to school. Wednesday is class color day-Our color is green(We have a green door) so bust out all the green you have and wear it to school. Thursday is silly or favorite hat day-everyone wears their hats to school! Friday is crazy hair Day-crazy colors,spikes,mohawks...anything goes on crazy hair day.
Also happening is our spring Scholastic book fair upstairs by the preschool office. It will be open all week during school times. This a great time to pick up a couple books to tuck in the easter baskets!  We will be holding our silent auction this year during our week of celebration. There are many great gift certificates to bid on , as well as fun baskets filled with great themed items. The kid-made items will be open for bidding on Monday and be closing by Friday at noon. All other auction items will be closing at the Family breakfast and Children's Art show on Saturday morning from 8:00-10:00 AM. The kids have been working on some fun art works for you to see and would love to “Show off” what they’ve done. If you and your family can join us for that, we need to know so we can plan for enough breakfast for all. There is a sign up sheet in the hallway.
Even though all the fun stuff is happening, we still have some learning going on. We are going to be talking about plants and growing. What do plants need? We will learn a song about that and plant some vegetable and flower seeds in different kinds of containers. Reading groups will be Monday and Tuesday, if your Busy Bee still has their folder at home, please send it back.
Remember to keep your ears open for info on the Kindergarten round up that should be happening at the school your Busy Bee will be going to next Fall. Most schools have something in the Spring to get kids signed up and parents information on their school. This is a great way to help your kids transition to the next step. Let me know if you have questions about this that I could help with.
I’m excited to get back to class and hear what everyone did over the break and have some fun celebrating my Busy Bee’s!

Hope everyone enjoys some time hanging out with your kids and soaking up some sun.
I wanted to let everyone know we choose some names for those super cute Gerbils in our classroom.......Butterscotch and Oreo are the winners! We had a close vote and lots of creative interesting name ideas.
The other info I wanted to let you know about is the Week of the young child. Each year when we come back from spring break , we celebrate children with our Week of the young child.
