Hi Families,
Last week-We had kind of a crazy week, with the snow day and veterans day. We did work on building some amazing houses and will continue working on these this week. We worked on learning the letter H and played a count the windows on the houses game.
This week-This week we have lots to do. We are going to be talking about what it means to be “Thankful”. We will have some activities with a turkey theme as we talk and learn about Thanksgiving. We’ll learn about the letter “T”, do some writing of the letter and talk about the sound it makes. It is our classes turn to have the “Light table” in our room. This is a favorite of the kids and it is a great ,fun way to add some visual learning to our day. We’ll be color mixing and exploring with light. We would still love to have your child return their Family page to school so it can go in our classroom book.
Family Fun Night-This Friday,Nov. 21th from 5:30-7:00pm we will be having our first family fun night of the school year. This month it is a “Make and take holiday craft night” . This is a free event and includes the whole family. We will have some cookie decorating,a holiday obstacle course and fun Christmas and Thanksgiving crafts for the whole family. We encourage you to come join our school “Family” for some fun and community.
Food drive-Our school is partnering with the church in this years food drive. We will have a box in our classroom for your child to bring in a few cans of food or other non perishable to donate to the food boxes the church gives out during the holiday season. The food drive continues through December.
Winter concert- The Busy Bee class will join the kindergarten, sunshine and star classes for our annual winter concert on Monday December 8th, at 6:00pm. We will be singing some songs together and then watching a slideshow. The Scholastic book fair will also be open that evening. Be sure and invite the family to come watch your Busy Bee and enjoy some holiday festivities.
Santa Breakfast-On Saturday December 6th we will be hosting a Santa Breakfast! Tickets go on sale soon, they will be $3 for kids,$5 for adults and will include pancakes, sausage, fruit and coffee/milk. Also each child will get a gift and photo with Santa. This is a great way to get in the holiday mood and support out school!

Next week On Nov 24/25 during school hours we will have a bake sale. We will be accepting donations of baked goods that we can sell. Some great ideas are cookies, bread, pie or cake. If you are not the baking kind of family, maybe you will come buy some treats for your Thanksgiving celebration.
Fred Meyers gives back to schools! Go to https://www.fredmeyer.com/topic/community-rewards-4 to register your rewards card and give back to Little Acorn Preschool and Kindergarten.
Thank you for supporting our school and making it a great place for kids to grow and learn!
Sick kids- The cold/flu season is upon us and we want to keep our classroom as germ free as possible. We will be disinfecting and cleaning on a daily basis. You can help by having your Busy Bee wash hands before coming into class and keeping them home if they are showing signs of illness. We would like to keep track of illness, so giving the office a quick call to let us know or sending me a text or email would be helpful. Thanks for helping us keep a healthy environment to play and learn in.
Volunteering: If you would like to volunteer in class and come see what your Busy Bee is doing, we would love to have you. I usually have some easy task that needs done, repairing books or prepping for upcoming activities. Your time in class is very helpful and you get a chance to see what our day is like and how your child is interacting. There is a sign up sheet in the hallway for dates/times. Thanks in advance for your support.
Also there are a few chances to get in some volunteer hours this month and next at the bake sale, santa breakfast and book fair. Check the preschool office door to sign up.
Contact info: Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns. I am fine with a text or a call or you can email. I am here to help you and your child have a great school year and feel honored that you have chosen us for your family’s preschool experience.

The Sense Song
(tune: Are you sleeping?)
Smells like Christmas
Smells like Christmas
Sniff, sniff, sniff
Sniff, sniff, sniff
I can smell the Christmas tree,
I can smell the turkey,
Sniff, sniff, sniff
Sniff, sniff, sniff
Tastes like Christmas
Tastes like Christmas
Crunch, crunch, crunch
Crunch, crunch, crunch
I can taste the cookies
I can taste the popcorn
Crunch, crunch, crunch
Crunch, crunch, crunch
Looks like Christmas
Looks like Christmas
Blink, blink, blink
Blink, blink, blink
I can see the lights
They’re such a pretty sight
Blink, blink, blink
Blink, blink, blink
Feels like Christmas
Feels like Christmas
Hug, hug, hug
Hug, hug, hug
I can feel the friendship
I can feel the love
Hug, hug, hug
Hug, hug, hug
