Busy Bee Newsletter For Feb 2-6

Hi Families,
Last week-Such a great time finishing up our Winter themed learning with the Hibernation Celebration. The kids loved wearing their pjs to school and throughly enjoyed the activities that went along with the day. Thanks for helping make it so fun for the Busy Bee class.
This week- So here we are in February! We are going to start out talking and learning about emotions, love and how we “feel”. We will be doing some activities all about things “we Love” and talking about what different emotions look and feel like on ourselves and our friends. We have a fun game to play and a song to learn about love. We are going to send home a letter sharing bag this week. Help your Busy Bee pick out something to “share” that begins with the letter on the bag. When they bring it back to school, we will try to guess whats in the bag and then write the word on our wordwall. We haven’t done these for a while and the kids love to bring things to share.Remember it has to fit in the bag and start with the letter.
Registration for 2015-2016 school year: We are hoping to have our kindergarten class next Fall and would love to have your child here at LAPSK. The class size is half that in public schools and is not full day. They will cover all the same curriculum as Public school Kindergarten. Please let me know if you have questions about it or are considering having your child continue on here for Kindergarten. Also if you know other families that would like to come check out our school, this is a perfect chance to see what all the classes are like here and what they offer.
LAPS for LAPSK is coming up on February 12th, info went out in cubbies last week. This is a fundraiser that gives Grandparents, family and friends a chance to support our school and gives your kids a night of running/walking laps to earn some money for their school. Have folks sponsor your child per lap or a set amount, then come on Feb. 12 from 5:30-7:00 and have your Busy Bee “run” their laps upstairs in Jason Lee Hall. We will have water to keep kids hydrated and a take home surprise for participating.
Fundraisers-LAPSK is a non profit preschool, fundraising is an important piece to our program. We are hopeful that with a variety of fundraisers your family will find one that is the right fit for you and you can help support our fantastic school. Our current fundraisers are Fred Meyers gives back to schools! Go to https://www.fredmeyer.com/topic/community-rewards-4  to register your rewards card and give back to Little Acorn Preschool and Kindergarten. And Shoparoo.com that is any easy way to earn money for our school right on your smart phone. Box tops for education is going to be wrapping up for the year and we need your box tops! Please send in box tops by the end of February.
Sick kids- The cold/flu season is upon us and we want to keep our classroom as germ free as possible. We will be disinfecting and cleaning on a daily basis. You can help by having your Busy Bee wash hands before coming into class and keeping them home if they are showing signs of illness. We would like to keep track of illness, so giving the office a quick call to let us know or sending me a text or email would be helpful. Thanks for helping us keep a healthy environment to play and learn in.
Volunteering: If you would like to volunteer in class and come see what your Busy Bee is doing, we would love to have you. I usually have some easy task that needs done, repairing books or prepping for upcoming activities. Your time in class is very helpful and you get a chance to see what our day is like and how your child is interacting. There is a sign up sheet in the hallway for dates/times. Also we could use someone to take home the recycle box. Thanks in advance for your support.
Contact info: Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns. I am fine with a text or a call or you can email. I am here to help you and your child have a great school year and feel honored that you have chosen us for your family’s preschool experience.
