Busy Bee Newsletter For Feb 23-27

Hi Families,
Last week-Hopefully your Busy Bee has been telling you all about how to keep teeth healthy! We learned a bunch last week about teeth and even got to have a visit on Friday from a Dentist, Dr Suzie. She played a fun flossing game with the kids and told them a story about a tooth. The kids brought home a tooth brushing chart to help remember to brush in the morning and at night.
We were scheduled to go sing to the Grandmas and Grandpas last week, but they have had illness over there and wanted to keep us safe and healthy, so we will try again in March.
This week-This week we are going to learn about keeping our whole bodies healthy. How to keep germs away, eat and drink to be healthy, why exercise is important and how much sleep to get. We will be making a fun art project to help us remember to cover when we cough or sneeze and doing an activity to show how we spread germs that we cannot see. We will also be creating a “Grocery store” in our classroom and be thinking about how to shop for healthy foods. We could use some empty food boxes that the kids can “Shop” for and several kids mentioned that they had a cash register or other shopping related items they would like to share with us. We would love that as long as they are willing to let everyone use them.
Family Fun night-This month we have a free evening of family fun planned. On this coming Friday Feb 27 from 5:30-7:00 we will be celebrating Dr.Seuss with fun activities and a dance party! Bring the whole family and enjoy some free family fun.
Fundraisers-LAPSK is a non profit preschool, fundraising is an important piece to our program. We are hopeful that with a variety of fundraisers your family will find one that is the right fit for you and you can help support our fantastic school. Our current fundraisers are Fred Meyers gives back to schools! Go to https://www.fredmeyer.com/topic/community-rewards-4  to register your rewards card and give back to Little Acorn Preschool and Kindergarten. And Shoparoo.com that is any easy way to earn money for our school right on your smart phone. Box tops for education is going to be wrapping up for the year and we need your box tops! Please send in box tops by the end of February.
LAPSK Auction Night-Mark your Calendars for Saturday April 18th and make your plans to join us for the LAPSK auction/dinner at Big Als. We will be putting together an auction basket as a classroom for the silent auction. The Basket themes will be a “Beer Basket”(for the adults) and a “Super hero Basket” for the kids. Watch for a sign up sheet to be posted so you can help fill them or if you have a great idea of something that you would like to donate that matches our themes, let me know.
Sick kids- The cold/flu season is upon us and we want to keep our classroom as germ free as possible. We will be disinfecting and cleaning on a daily basis. You can help by having your Busy Bee wash hands before coming into class and keeping them home if they are showing signs of illness. We would like to keep track of illness, so giving the office a quick call to let us know or sending me a text or email would be helpful. Thanks for helping us keep a healthy environment to play and learn in.
Volunteering: If you would like to volunteer in class and come see what your Busy Bee is doing, we would love to have you. I usually have some easy task that needs done, repairing books or prepping for upcoming activities. Your time in class is very helpful and you get a chance to see what our day is like and how your child is interacting. There is a sign up sheet in the hallway for dates/times.   Contact info: Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns. I am fine with a text or a call or you can email. Busy Bee Newsletter For Feb 9-13

Hi Families,
Last week-We had some great conversations about how we feel and the different emotions. Each day the kids checked in by putting their name on the “feeling chart” under the face/feeling they were having. Through out the day the kids could change it if their feelings changed. We also talked a lot about love and how we show love and the things we love. We worked on number writing and put a page in our portfolio books.
This week- Lots of fun activities are coming up for the week ahead. We are going to be doing Valentine Day bags so we can have them for our parties. We have some fun science to do on Tuesday and a bunch of Valentines day activities to keep us busy all week long. The Classroom parties will be on Thursday and Friday. The kids can bring V-day cards to exchange with their friends and remember to send the snack item that you signed up for on our “Favorite things” sign up.

Busy Bee Newsletter For Feb 2-6

Hi Families,
Last week-Such a great time finishing up our Winter themed learning with the Hibernation Celebration. The kids loved wearing their pjs to school and throughly enjoyed the activities that went along with the day. Thanks for helping make it so fun for the Busy Bee class.
This week- So here we are in February! We are going to start out talking and learning about emotions, love and how we “feel”. We will be doing some activities all about things “we Love” and talking about what different emotions look and feel like on ourselves and our friends. We have a fun game to play and a song to learn about love. We are going to send home a letter sharing bag this week. Help your Busy Bee pick out something to “share” that begins with the letter on the bag. When they bring it back to school, we will try to guess whats in the bag and then write the word on our wordwall. We haven’t done these for a while and the kids love to bring things to share.Remember it has to fit in the bag and start with the letter.
Registration for 2015-2016 school year: We are hoping to have our kindergarten class next Fall and would love to have your child here at LAPSK. The class size is half that in public schools and is not full day. They will cover all the same curriculum as Public school Kindergarten. Please let me know if you have questions about it or are considering having your child continue on here for Kindergarten. Also if you know other families that would like to come check out our school, this is a perfect chance to see what all the classes are like here and what they offer.

Our cooking project for the month will be this week as we make “Snowflake tortillas”. We have a fun art/writing activity to do as the kids answer the question “If I lived in a snow globe, I would.....?”. Watch for those to go up in the hallway at the end of the week.
